Soil Associations Quindalup: Dune sands, closest to the coast, vegetated by a low scrubland highly adapted to salt spray. Further from the beach, a diverse scrubland. Woodland of E. gomphocephala in sheltered sites. Cottesloe: Brownish sand over limestone. Woodland or forest of E. gomphocephala, sometimes with C. calophylla or E. marginata. Where soil is shallow over limestone (Cottesloe Ridges) a shrubland or low woodland occurs. Bassendean: Highly leached grey sands. On drier sites open woodland of Banksia sp. And E. todtiana. Wetter areas Open woodland of E. marginata over Banksia sp, Pinjarra Plain: Alluvial soils loams and clays often reddish, sand and loam over clay, yellow duplex soils (sand/loam over clay) . Foothills: Forrestfield E marginata vegetation types. Woodlands of E. calophylla, E. rudis and E. wandoo along creek lines. |
