At a meeting of the Tree Farm Project held in Dowerin on 11th January 2010, it was decided to change the name of the Dowerin activities to Dowerin and Regions-Men of the Trees.
There were a number of advantages considered in this change of name; resulting from a suggestion by MOTT Board for rural branches to become more localised.
We are the only MOTT Branch in the Wheatbelt and although the main projects are at Dowerin, such as Amery Acres and Lake Nambling, there is potential to expand. The probability of shire amalgamations was also taken into account.
A campaign to obtain more local members will take place.
At present our only office bearers are Rex Adams, treasurer and is also Shire of Dowerin Deputy CEO. Adrian Price, chair & secretary, who is also Shire of Dowerin Natural Resource Management officer.
During the year, MOTT members and students from Curtin University have taken part in planting trees and other activities at Amery Acres and Lake Nambling. We are grateful to all participants.
We will promote the spirit of MOTT ''to revegetate the Wheatbelt'.
Adrian Price.
